Nourish 2017 will take place November 17 & 18 in Saskatoon!
The Nourish conference is an event where people of all sizes, shapes, genders, abilities, and backgrounds can gather to celebrate all bodies, support one another as we work toward body acceptance, and build a more inclusive community that values all people.
Featuring keynote speaker Sydney Bell!
The first Nourish conference took place in Treaty 6 Territory and Homeland of the Métis (Saskatoon, SK) on November 21, 2015. We were excited to host this community-building event where we will create space for dialogue, learning, and information sharing on a variety of topics relating to size acceptance, body image, and diversity. Inspired by The Body Love Conference in Tucson, Arizona, Nourish aims to cultivate a body love revolution in Canada by encouraging conference attendees to honour and celebrate themselves (and others) just as they are – and to explore health and wellness practices that don’t focus on weight loss as the primary goal. A key aspect of Nourish is inclusivity – we are working hard to create a space that is safe and inclusive for all who wish to participate in the conference. This includes accessibility considerations, diversity in conference presenters, on-site support people, and a range of workshop formats that reflect various learning styles and needs.
Our conference committee is thrilled that Ontario-based coach and social worker Sydney Bell will be joining us as keynote for Nourish 2017! A founding member of Nourish YXE, Sydney’s work on promoting body sovereignty and challenging weight stigma has been foundational for many people who are on the journey towards making peace with their bodies and building a more inclusive and just world for all bodies.
We couldn’t plan an event like this without the support of community partners to assist with all aspects of the conference. The conference committee would like to extend a special thank you to:
for supporting this work by sharing time, talents, and resources with us.
